Mozart's Birthday

A little night music for someone special.
The story
Where it comes from
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born on 27 January 1756 at Getreidegasse 9 in Salzburg, and this Story marks his birthday. Trained by his father Leopold, he was a child prodigy: by the age of five he could play the keyboard and violin, had begun to compose and had performed before European royalty. In a life of only 35 years he completed more than 800 works, from symphonies and concertos to chamber music, choral music and operas such as The Magic Flute.
How it's celebrated
In Salzburg, the International Mozarteum Foundation holds Mozart Week each January around his birthday, with concerts, opera and talks, and on the day itself a birthday programme and serenade. Anywhere else, it is a good day to put on a Mozart piece while you work, play a duet with a child, or send a friend a card with a little night music.
