Siblings Day

For those who grew up with you.
The story
Where it comes from
Siblings Day was created by Claudia Evart, a New Yorker who grew up with an older brother and sister, Alan and Lisette, and lost both of them young in separate accidents. In 1995 she set up the Siblings Day Foundation to honour the bond between brothers and sisters in the spirit of Mother's Day and Father's Day, and chose 10 April, Lisette's birthday. It is not a federal holiday in the United States, but the day has spread far beyond it.
How it's celebrated
People send a card or a small gift, post a favourite old photo together, cook a brother's or sister's favourite meal, or simply spend time together. The foundation suggests that a good deed or an errand done for a sibling counts as much as money spent, that a candle can be lit for a sibling who has died, and that anyone without a sibling can celebrate a friend or cousin instead, so no one is left out.
